Adventures (and Misadventures) of Elliott and Mary

Issue 22 - May-June, 2006: Down the Tennessee to Pickwick Lake and Green Turtle Bay

The plan was to go up the Cumberland but time and weather and what looked like favoriable conditions on the Mississippi caused a change of plans.

We left Letitia at the Fort Loudon Marina while we ferried our car up to Michigan to get winter storage squared away. Long distance car trips with 2 cats aboard are an interesting experience. However, we got it done and are set to move on down the Tennessee to the Ohio and up the Mississippi.

As I said in the previous Misadventures, the Tennessee is not to be missed. It is a hidden gem.

Here are a couple of shots

The trip down the river was pretty much like the trip up. It's hard to get too far astray.

We stopped at Grand Harbor Marina on Pickwick instead of Aqua Yacht harbor (Grand Harbor has wi-fi on the dock) and then on down to Green Turtle.

We did stop at Pebble Isle Marina instead of Paris Landing but otherwise we covered the same water as last year. We did find that we could come in from the upstream end at the Double Island anchorage.

Next issue we'll get up the big river!!

Till Later!!
